Logic Unlimited's Guide to PageRank: Links
Written by Daniel Longieliere
Provided by Logic Unlimited

Linking in regards to page rank is crucial to the success of your site. And this can be a bit complicated, so hold on.Lets use the analogy that page rank is apples, Google gives you 4 on your page rank, so what they give you is 4 apples for you, and 4 apples for you to give other sites, by way of linking to them.

Using that analogy, lets say off your link page, you have 1 link, so you are giving it your four apples, if you have two links, you are giving each of them two, and so on and so on. So when linking to other sites, you do not want to link too many, because it devalues the weight of your links, and does little good to them, on the flip side, you want links with other webmasters have have apples, and arent giving out too many links to others as well.

There are many strategys to gaining links, in theroy, no link is a bad one, unless its coming from a questionable site. Questionable sites would be illegal, or illicit sites. So never turn down someone linking to you.

What you should concern yourself with more though is the links from relevant, or high page rank sites. You want those apples afterall. So how do you go about getting those links?

     1. Talk to the webmaster, webmasters are people too, and if you have a valid site, with a good cause, business idea, or of general relevance to thier site, they may be inclined to link to you at no cost, keep in mind that most of them will want a link back however.

     2. Write articles! Just like this one. If you are reading this, and getting good information from it, then link to it... please :) It's a very good way to get links coming into your site, and doesnt require you to link back. Others are more or less grading your articles as important enough to think others should read them too, so they link to them.

     3. Pay per click. There is debate on whether or not payperclick links actually pass page rank, some say yes, some say no. flip a coin, but don't rely on them to build your page rank, else you will wont get far.

     4. Paid links, in short, don't do it. paid links are wrong in the eyes of google, and when found out, could potentially get your site banned from googles index, which, considering googles towering market share of the search engine crowd, would be terrible for your business. If you do get banned, you can always request reconsideration, but you would need to have a great excuse, and be ready to smooch some booty.

     5. Blogging, falls under the same category of articles, but more versed towards the personal site crowd, Blogging started small years ago, and has grown by leaps and bounds as people all over the world decide they need to be heard. A great thing most the time.

That pretty much sums up the basics of Linking in regards to Page Rank, Check Back for Logic Unlimited's Guide to Page Rank Part 3!
