Windows 7 First Impressions

Having been one of those guys that uninstalled Vista on my Dell in favor of the more popular XP, I was skeptical about installing the Beta of Windows 7.
Never the less, I did install it, and I am incredibly glad I did. So after two days of running it, I have some first insights into the experience for you.
First off, the interface is very vista like, but its not heavy like vista was, nor is this the pig that vista was.
The interface is intuitive, and while I am an old dog, I am quickly getting used to navigating the new version. (I was always one to set the interface to "classic mode". In an effort to better serve our customers, I am avoiding that and becoming more familar with the standard way of doing things.
The dell is couple years old, AMD 64, running 2 gigs of RAM, and a new bargain of a video card, the Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT that I picked up at Bestbuy for $80.00. While this card does have 1 gig of video ram on it, I am pretty sure performance on a smaller memory supporting video card would be comparable.
Drivers were not even near an issue, as the system installed supporting all of my hardware, including printers.
I did choose to go with the standard nvidia drivers/software as I am using HDMI to my phillips HDTV. While I am still working on getting the kinks out, I want to be able to do full PC gaming in my living room via wireless keyboard and mouse.
The Operating system needed a couple updates, which microsoft graciously downloaded, and with a non intrusive reminder in the bottom right, suggested I install, and reboot to install them.
AVG antivirus ofcourse to handle protection. I had one small issue with that, AVG refused to run the real time antivirus protection. After the updates, and rebooting, this problem went away on its own.
I am very pro microsoft. They are the industry leaders in so much of what _everyone_ uses on a day to day basis. I feel I can agree with many IT guru's in stating that at this point, this may be the best Windows experience I have ever had. From the install, to software installation, to using the system, it has run flawlessly, and I will definetely be purchasing the operating system when it releases.
